HOW TO MAKE A MODEL CAR YOURSELF ?
Whether you are a car enthusiast or you love famous cars from TV or movies, scale model cars are the perfect addition to your collection. If you are new to this particular hobby, then you probably know very little about how to build a model car. Don't worry, AlphaModel is here to help you! Read on to quickly learn everything you need to know about how to build a model car!
Choose your model
Before you start cutting, gluing, welding or painting, the first step in building a model car is to find the vehicle of your choice. Are you looking for a classic car, such as a Ferrari F40 or Porsche 911? BMW M3 or Audi RS4 ? Or something a little different but equally iconic, like the McLaren P1 GTR?
Once you have chosen your vehicle, the next step is to find the ideal size vehicle for you. To help you make your decision, AlphaModel sells resin car models in 1/18,1/24,1/43 scale. Many of the models we offer are 1/24, they are beautiful and easy to store.
So you've ordered your model car kit, received the parts, and are ready to go. What's the next step? If you are new to scale modeling, there are a few major steps before you leave the starting point.
First, if you are serious about learning how to build model cars, you will need a well-balanced set of tools. Like any good car mechanic, having the right tools can be the difference between an engine that purrs and one that doesn't start at all.
The next important step is deciding where you are going to build. You can build a scale model almost anywhere, but here are some tips for choosing a model car shop.
Bench size - simply put, you need a table or bench large enough to hold the many parts that make up your model car
Lighting - You can't (or at least shouldn't try to) build model cars in the dark. Make sure you have adequate lighting for accurate scale modeling.
Storage Containers - As mentioned above, your model car kit will come with many parts. Avoid losing any critical components by storing them in an organized box or drawer.
Right Seating - Model car building is a long-term project. Do your body a favor and choose a chair that you can sit comfortably in.
Finally, before you start building your model car, we recommend that you read the kit instructions carefully. Even if the steps seem obvious, these instructions will at least give you an idea of the order in which you need to work. The last thing you want to do is take your model car apart because you found some extra parts that should go into the engine or chassis!
Completing your model car
If you follow the instructions clearly, you should (hopefully) have a model car that looks exactly like the one shown in the manual. Will it have a smooth, polished look? An aged, weathered look? Does it need painting or decals?
If you are looking for your first scale model, or if you are looking for a great gift for your child, then you can't go wrong with a resin model car. Even if you've never driven a Formula 1 car or a Volkswagen Beetle, you can still get great pleasure from handcrafting and owning a quality scale model replica.
